Introduction to Udyam Re-Registration

If your business is already registered with the old Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) system, the Government of India has now introduced a new, improved Udyam Registration scheme for all MSME owners. The Indian Government announced on July 1, 2020 that the Udyog Aadhaar process is being discontinued, and the Ministry of MSME set a deadline to migrate all Udyog Aadhaar businesses to the Udyam Portal.

The Udyam Re-Registration process is simple, easy, and completely online.

What Is Udyam Re-Registration?

Udyam Re-Registration is the process through which existing MSMEs registered under Udyog Aadhaar migrate their business to the new Udyam Registration Portal. The Government of India launched the Udyam system on July 1, 2020, and all businesses previously registered under the old system must now re-register to continue receiving government benefits.

Why Udyam Re-Registration Is Important

Continue Government Benefits

Without re-registration, you may lose eligibility for MSME loans, government schemes, and subsidies.

Updated Business Information

Keeps your business details correct and updated in government records with the new investment-and-turnover-based classification.

Easy Loan Approval

Banks and financial institutions always prefer businesses registered under the latest updated system.

Legal Validity

Your old UAM registration may become invalid if not migrated. Official recognition requires current Udyam registration.

What Happens If You Don't Re-Register?
  • Loss of MSME status and recognition on the Udyam portal
  • Loss of eligibility for government schemes, subsidies, and support programs
  • Missed access to MSME development programs and growth initiatives
  • Loss of financial benefits including low-interest loans and credit guarantee schemes

Why Was Udyog Aadhaar Replaced?

The Government of India replaced Udyog Aadhaar with the improved Udyam Registration system. The new system offers:

Paperless & fully online registration process
Aadhaar-based identity verification
Automatic verification with PAN and GST databases
Updated classification based on investment and turnover
Simple and easy registration process
Easy access to government schemes and incentives

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Always cross-check your Aadhaar and PAN details carefully before submitting the form. Incorrect details will result in rejection.

OTP verification fails if the registered mobile number is not active or not linked with Aadhaar. Always use an active Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Wrong business name, address, or activity details cause verification problems. Enter details exactly as they appear in your business documents.

Small typing errors can cause delays or rejection. Review all details carefully before clicking the Submit button.
